Minnesota Pays $65,000 in Legal Fees to Game Industry

Minnesotans, your tax dollars are hard at work battling evils in the video game industry.

The Entertainment Software Association today announced that the state of Minnesota had to foot $65,000 in legal fees because of the ESA's successful challenge to that state's video game law.

Courts have consistently ruled that video games are subject to the same First Amendment protections as movies, music and other forms of literature. Minnesota's law sought to penalize minors who buy Mature or Adults Only rated games. The ESA has been awarded more than $2 million through nine jurisdictions where it has challenged unconstitutional video game laws.

Two million? You could begin production of your own video game with that much money. Might I suggest a game in which Kratos battles pompous lawmakers to the death?
